Union Chapel Christian Academy uses the A-Beka book curriculum, which is supplemented to provide students with the best possible program of studies. There is emphasis on the mastery of fundamental blocks of material necessary for satisfactory achievement in core areas. Along with the acquisition of facts and concepts in the areas studied, emphasis is placed upon the development and exercise of powers of reasoning. Methods of teaching that are proven to be effective are utilized with a constant search for better methods and best practices.

Phonics and Reading: 1st -3rd; review of all phonics rules, oral reading and reading comprehension. Vocabulary building, 4th and 5th, reading and literature.
Cursive writing: 1st -3rd review of letter formation and creative writing. Fourth begin penmanship through skill practice, word exercise, original composition and sentence dictation.
Spelling and Poetry: Weekly phonics -based word list, six to nine poems committed to memory. Vocabulary study.
Language: Capitalizations, proper names, days of the weeks and months of the year. Correct punctuation. Recognition of complete sentences; opposite and same meaning words. Use of prefixes, suffixes and abbreviations. Writing library research paper, book reports and encyclopedia reports.
Grammar: 3rd - 5th - Forming plurals and common contractions. Recognition of antonyms, homonyms, synonyms. Using all eight parts of speech. Diagramming verbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives.
History and Geography
History: "This is my America" - This is my World" - studies people who built America - the Flag, patriotic holidays; Continents and oceans of the world.
